105 of the 131 establishments here have been inspected more than once and carry a rank, so their last score can be read against the one before it. The Bird Score deliberately damps a single visit — this is the movement that damping hides. 40 improved · 34 slipped · 31 scored the same twice. One inspection is a snapshot of one day, not a verdict on a kitchen.
How to read the ranking
What the five bands mean.
Every row carries a number out of 100 and one of five words. The words are shorthand for where a business sits in this list, not a grade the city issued — Metro Health does not band anyone. The cuts are set where this corpus's quartiles actually fall, and they get re-measured whenever the formula changes.
Consistently high inspection scores, and usually a published award or a long permit history behind them.
A good record with something holding it back — a weaker recent visit, a short history, or no outside recognition.
Scores that move around, or repeat findings across visits. The largest band, and the one where reading the actual violations matters most.
Low or falling inspection scores, repeat risk findings, or both.
Listed but not ranked. No published inspection score exists yet — never scored as a zero.
The number itself is the Bird Score: inspection history first, then published awards, complaint record, permit tenure and menu evidence. Every term, every weight, and the arithmetic for one real business.

This is the earliest inspection on file, not an opening date. A business can trade for years under a permit name we cannot match, and several here almost certainly did.
